There is no doubt that widgets will be huge in 2008. What’s not to like about distributed web applications, especially when they offer high levels of interoperability with the web’s most popular destination sites. Just how tough is it to get a widget launched? Not very. There are some easy to use tools out there that will have you up and running in no time.

I used two websites to complete this project:

1) SpringWidgets - SpringWidget has an extremely easy to use interface where you paste your FeedBurner RSS location into a box and pretty much customize and save a widget in no time.
2) ClearSpring - ClearSpring is a platform for you to distribute and monetize the widget you just made.

SpringWidgets can be used to immediately create and RSS Feed Widget for your blog

Head off to Express page at SpringWidgets and paste your FeedBurner URL into the box that requests that info. Tab down, you should see the sample widget box on the right populate with information from posts on your blog.

Go ahead and customize the widget to appear like you want it to. Next save your widget. Copy the URL of your new widget to your clipboard.

Head off to ClearSpring and create an account. Then create a new widget on their system, pointing to the URL of the widget you made at SpringWidgets.

You will now have widget code that you distribute all around the web. The first thing to do is to add the widget to your website. Next, you Publish the widget through ClearSpring’s interface to all of the major widget galleries. The great thing about ClearSpring is the tracking utilities included with your account. You will know exactly how many times your widget is being viewed and installed.

Now you can make as many widgets from RSS Feeds as you like, and distribute and track them from one location. Easy, easy, easy.

Here is the finished product.
