Blogs can generate a lot of traffic, just like any website can. But blogs tend to attract specific and fresh traffic. One of the main benefits of a blog is how quickly you can get a reader for your articles. For example, if you mention most people’s name in your blog, you’ll generally seem them show up within hours! Let’s look at the different types of traffic that will show up at your website.
Blogs attract organic traffic easily
1) Your regular readers. These are the heart and soul of your web operation. These are the people who have decided to visit your website, read your RSS, and stay in touch with your website. Acquiring a new reader is like finding gold.
2) Search engine visitors. These people are surfing in from Google and are probably looking for something specific. Whether they find it or not, they most likely are leaving. Try to convert them into becoming readers. Failing that, get them to click on an ad!
3) Social networking traffic. They will come and go. They won’t click on ads. A small percentage of them will become readers, and they are free to acquire. Do your best to get their attention.
You can also consider “paid traffic”, but you really need to have your business sense in order if you do. If the traffic isn’t completely and totally targeted, you can expect to waste a lot of money until you figure out who is really getting the benefit of visiting your website.
The key is to recognize what traffic you have and how you can put it to work for you.
