Taking on the task of blogging can be challenging. There are a number of things you’ll need to legitimately worry about, and others that should be ignored. If you can’t control something, scratch it off your list, and focus on what you actually impact through your daily routine. If you fret about all the perils that await you based on third parties and second hand events, you’ll never get any real work done.
Concentrate on what you can actually change
With blogging, some of the things you can actually change:
1) The quality of your website (webmastering issues)
2) The quality of your writing
3) The frequency of your posts
4) Your commitment to excellence
Some of the things you don’t control
1) Google or their Pagerank
2) Whether people like you or your blog
3) The vicissitudes of search engines
When we focus on the things from “Group A”, we tend to be much more productive than when we focus on “Group B” items. For every second you spend worrying about a factor you don’t control, you end up not getting improving something that you do control.
