I know I’ve been talking a lot about raising revenues from your blogging efforts lately, and for a good reason. When you first start blogging, you are nowhere near gaining anything financially, and you have only your hopes and dreams to fuel you. For some, this may be enough. But for other individuals, like myself, the need to see tangible financial results is strong. Once you see that your efforts are literally “paying off” for you, your motivation to blog goes right through the roof.

Setting and achieving financial goals will keep you going

When you actually see the money going up, you can feel the need to keep on blogging. For someone who has gone a long time with blogging and has received very few financial incentives to continue, they have only their passion to guide them. When a ‘long dark night of the soul’ comes and they’re forced to reconcile the accounts of ‘time spent’ and ‘money earned’, they will have only a feeling of warm self-satisfaction to get them through. For me, I’d rather have some numbers following $$ to give me a clearer indication of whether the time I spent was worth it.

After blogging for dollars for 19 months, I’m happy to report the return is exceptional. For the amount of time my wife Heather and I put into blogging, the reward is well worth the effort. Even better is the fact that we now own viable web properties which could be sold for a decent amount of money if we decided to exit the business for any reason.

And with the increase in revenue we’re finding a resurgence in intensity to post. We find it very easy to stick to our blogging schedule and finding out that the rewards can go up consistently.

If you’re feeling down in the dumps, don’t be. It’s only a matter of time and effort until you get rewarded in the manner you’re expecting.

    2. While I agree with you that revenue makes it easier, that doesn’t change the fact that we must learn to be patient and keep on blogging. I suppose it depends on the niche. With automotive blogs, the competition is very strong and there are some very high quality competitors. What that equates to is the fact that it can take a long time for a quality blog to gain traction in that niche.

I’m just in the midst of launching Blogtater, which I expect will actually generate traffic & income faster than my main focus, The Garage.
