I find the toughest part of getting a blog post done is starting. As soon as I get underway, it’s rare that I’ll wander off and begin doing something else. Once I start, I’m very motivated to keep on working until I can hit “Publish” and get on to bigger and better things. So the key is to make sure you’re motivated enough to start. Let’s look at the most important way to do that.

Tell yourself all the advantages of getting started

The chief advantage is that once you start, you’re close to getting finished! And being finished with your blog posts is always the most important part of the day. Once your blogging is done, you can move on the real business of life: enjoying yourself. So know matter how unmotivated you may feel to get moving, keep in mind that sitting down and opening your editing program is always the key which unlocks the door to blogging’s rewards.

As I near the end of this blog post…

…I’m grateful for one thing: the fact that I started it. Had I not, it would be nowhere near finished and adding these few sentences would have me no closer to the promised land. But start it I did and now I know that if I can hang in there and wrap up my thoughts, I’ll be nearing the finish line with one more post under my belt.

So that’s my take on things: you need to get started in order to be done. Therefore starting your blog posts is the hardest, most important part of blogging.

What do you do to get started?

    2. When I’m going for a run/to the gym/to yoga, I put all my energy into getting dressed, filling the water bottle, and getting in the car. Once I’m actually AT the gym, I’m not going to up and turn around and go home.

    3. Exactly Marina. The sweating comes later, but it all starts with the decision to go!

    4. My main motivation for starting to write is my quota of posts that I must write by the end of the day. I’ve been blogging for more than 4 years but haven’t given it its due time. I’m doing that now and this motivates me a lot.
