If you think that you’re anonymously blogging and you make damaging statements against companies or individuals, you better make sure to cover all your bases.
Essent-Paris Regional Medical Center has won an important court decision in its battle against an unknown blogger the hospital says has done damage to its reputation.
Tuesday, 62nd District Court Judge Scott McDowell ordered SuddenLink, the internet search provider, to reveal the name and address of the blogger.
The blogger’s attorney, James Rogers of the Moore Law Firm had argued the blogger’s identity was protected by the Wire and Radio Communications Act, citing privacy issues.
Once the hospital learned the identity of the blogger, they decided to proceed with legal action against him.
I guess he should have posted with the understanding that everything he said might one day be used against him in a court of law, because that’s where he’s headed now.
