Amazon is a monetization option that can be used very easily to monetize a blog. Amazon is the 30th most visited website on the Internet, and they carry almost every product imaginable. They’ve been in business for over a decade and have earned the trust of millions of shoppers. When you get someone to click on an Amazon link from your blog, a cookie is set that lasts for 24 hours. During that 24 hour period you get 4% of all the money they spend on Amazon.

People already use Amazon to make purchases

The key is to just send people to Amazon. Obviously, if you can send them based on searching for a certain product, your conversion rate will be higher. But don’t overlook the obvious money earning opportunity that comes from them shopping their anyways. If your cookie is set, you earn. So the more people who you send to the site, the more likely you are to get paid.

Amazon now has Content Links that work much like Kontera’s. You merely include their Javascript in your footer, and the program does the rest. It targets keywords on your page, and makes a formatted affiliate link to a closing page. It’s easy to set up and the possibilities of setting cookies is quite limitless.

If you want to spend more time crafting pages, you can use their product links, and build a landing page around the content. I’ve been experimenting with this very technique with decent results.

It’s up to you the level of work you put in. But with Holiday season fast approaching, I’d suggest taking a look at Amazon and what it can add to your website.

    2. One thing I’ve noticed is, with the Product Links, if you put the “creative” with the price on, and it’s an expensive item, CTR will be shocking. But use just the image, (or text link) and CTR will be a lot higher, and a lot more fruitful

And, on TOP of all that, consider using OpenAds to help you target your traffic to appropriate Amazons (regional). Do you use it? If not, do you use something else?

    3. I haven’t been using the OpenAds. I’ll have to check into it. Most of my traffic is US, but not all, of course.

I like to comment about the pricing and the CTR, I’ll give that a look too.

      Thanks, James.
