How many goddam blogging tips is one person supposed to read in their lifetime? I searched for the word “blogger” today and what did I see? Tips for blogging. By bloggers, for bloggers, and all all kinds of various and sundry tips. At what point can you expect to write a tip for a niche audience and really expect it to be fresh and enticing enough for people to try? I don’t think it can be done anymore, to be honest.

Even if you love blogging, let’s face a few facts:

1) Blogging is not that new
2) Blogging is not that exciting

Worse yet, if you’re like me, and you only entered the blogosphere to make money, then you’ll undoubtedly have an even tougher time “getting it up” when it comes time to cheer lead about the new media. I mean by now you know the drill. Blogging is work. Just like every other job out there, with its’ own disadvantages and advantages. There is no miracle cure to the constant need to develop traffic and retain readers. Sure, sometimes a few reminders are necessary about good form and best practices, but realistically, if you already make money from blogging, you know most of the so-called “secrets” anyway.

So that’s it for my rant today. But I will leave you with one tip: you have about 3 weeks until the kids get back to college. That should definitely boost traffic, so start laying out some topics now that will resonate with the younger crowd. Summer has a tendency to lull, but now’s the time to really but your blogging nose on the blogging grindstone.

What’s your favorite blogging tip?
