Blog networks have been in action for years now, so the idea isn’t too earth shattering. The concept of organizing blogs around specific keywords is a sound one. But for small entrepreneurs entering into the new media space, how good of an idea is it to start a blog network? People will have to answer that question on their own, but let’s take a look at some of the advantages and disadvantages of both ideas.

One Big Successful Blog

  • You can concentrate on one project
  • You’ll tend to post many more times on one big blog
  • Traffic will be higher because you posted more

  • You have all of your eggs in one basket - if the site fails, you’re ruined

Having A Blog Network

  • You have the safety of diversification on your side
  • You can test multiple keywords
  • You will be less bored than if you work on one subject

  • Diversification often leads to mediocrity
  • You will have more work to do in the long run with multiple blogs

What other advantages or disadvantages of either approach can you think of?
