Let’s say your blog traffic has reached a plateau and has been steady for some time. Does that mean it can’t go higher? Of course not. If there truly was a “glass ceiling” for every blog that was quite low, that would make the world an uninteresting place. No, you can take your blog past a sticking point, but it will probably take more effort than you’ve been putting in. If you’ve hit a plateau, it almost always is related to your efforts.

It might seem like you’re working harder than ever, but do you have a way to verify if it’s true or not? Are you doing everything in your power to promote your blog? If you can’t honestly answer those questions in the affirmative, then there’s always room for improvement. If you’ve been stuck for awhile, there are some simple tactics you can try to bust out of the doldrums.

Steps to boost traffic

  • Improve the look and feel of your blog. This includes navigation and making your template as clean as possible
  • Improve post frequency. If you don’t update often, you give readers and robots a reason to ignore you
  • Try a new type of promotions. Hold a contest, Use PPC, it doesn’t really matter. But at least try exploring new avenues

What other ways can you think of to go to the next level?
