Defining Your Strengths In Blogging

One of my favorite sayings, for a completely unknown reason, lately has been telling my wife that it’s best to live on “Know Your Role BLVD”. The saying is kind of stupid when you actually write it out like that, but here’s what it means to me. If you live on “Know Your Role BLVD” it means you’re in touch with what YOU need to do to succeed in life. You can’t blindly follow others. You have to carve out a niche using the tools at your disposal.

If you attempt to use methods that don’t suit your personality, then you can expect an uphill battle. So how can you find a place on “Know Your Role BLVD”? First, you need to know yourself. What type of person are you? Are you social or do you tend to stick to yourself? If you’re a lone wolf you can’t expect to be any different when it comes to carving out an online niche. If you’re very friendly, then socializing with other bloggers is probably the route to go.

Know yourself and the blogging should take care of itself

The corniest advice of all is the truest: just be yourself. When you set out to blog, it’s extremely important to let your personality shine through. You need to be professional, but you also have to show enough gumption that people reading your blog can get to know you and your personality. This isn’t always as easy as it seems, but with some reflection, can be achieved.

What kind of blogger are you? Does your blogging style co-incide with your personality or are the two complementary?
