A) When under pressure, the great ones scramble. Blogging is a lot like football. Okay, it’s not really like football in the slightest. But like the game of football, bloggers will find themselves under pressure and looking for a way to come up with new strategies. And in the meantime, they’ll have to scramble.
Blogging strategies, internet marketing methods, and everything related to search engines involves learning on the fly. There’s no manual for success, so the only thing you can rely on is to experiment and quantify your results. If things aren’t working out, you have to make changes to your strategy. Luckily, blogs are pretty to easy to modify.
Guessing at trends has been a problem for me concerning blogs in 2007. I still keep hearing the same old Digg, comment, and post meme, and it isn’t really that satisfying to me. I think there’s a brave new world just over the horizon. But I’m not prepared to know exactly what’s in store so all I can do is be flexible.
Here’s a few things I’m not too enthused about in 2007:
1) Adsense - saturation has been achieved
2) RSS - Who thought of this? A blog’s readers never have to come to the website and click ads. Egads, what a bad plan for revenue.
3) Digg, Netscape, Reddit - as the corruption climbs, many casual people will bail.
4) Paid posts for links (It’s just too cheesy to implement in almost all blogs)
Some things I am enthused about in 2007
1) CPM - Kontera and Intellitext have impressive and expanding programs
2) Text-Link-Ads - Does very well on certain websites
3) Second Life - It has nothing to do with blogging, but it is another cool way to make some cash (Linders) online
I’m sure I’m left out a bunch of them, and that’s where you.
Tell me your likes and dislikes for blogging in 2007 (or even a few off-topic ones).
