Bloggers Can Never Have Enough Content
January 9, 2007 – 2:46 pmby Darren
Blogging is a game of inches. Oh wait, that’s football. Anyways, blogging is actually about adding meaningful content to the internet, and to do it for an extended period of time. Your blog matures as it contains more and more useful information. If you watch your log files, and you see someone clicking on 10 of your old posts, devouring each of your words, you know you must have done something right. But what’s the best a blogger can hope for?
A blogger can’t afford to quit blogging.
Sure, you can take a break for a long period of time, but if you quit updating your blog, the traffic it has will wither and die. Hey, let’s be realistic, doctors make millions of dollars but very few of them can quit seeing patients. If you write books, you keep on writing until the day you die, and if you blog, you can plan on blogging for the same length of time. If you get lazy, and your blog atrophies, you’ll see a sizable decrease in your income, no matter how good your achive may have been in the past.
You’re only as good as your last post.
This is true of anyone in any profession. You can’t rest on laurels because the day and age we live in don’t allow anyone to. Technology is changing the condition of our lives so rapidly that no one can predict with any certainty what tomorrow holds for any of us. But embracing the new media of blogging empowers us in a way that others won’t experience. Keep on blogging, no matter what happens. Smile, even if you feel like crying, and do your level best to be the best. If you do this, how can you fail?
Content is the only thing that ultimately pays a blogger. Content drives traffic and traffic produces revenues. A sustainable stream of readers comes from a continous supply of posts.
2007 promises to be another year where my blogs need filling. Let’s hope none of us run out of ideas for posts.
What do you do when you when you feel like you can’t think of anything to blog about?

One Response to “Bloggers Can Never Have Enough Content”
When I don’t have stuff to write about, I read feeds (not that I don’t read them when I have stuff) I’ll read my feeds in more detail, and naturally the idea will pop up.
But then again, there ARE some days which I don’t have things to talk about - so I just keep quiet.
I think its always good to have some timeless posts around for your rainy “bad blog day”.
