Niche bloggers can afford to be patient

But people in general niches need to hustle. If you’re in a niche, it’s going to take 6 months, at least, to build up the sufficient authority and incoming links to start to generate a decent income. Most of your revenue will be reliant on visitors who come from search engines and from related blogs.
If you work in a general field, you won’t have the luxury of patience. If you’re reporting on news, you have a very small window of opportunity to ensure your post is read. That means a great part of your job becomes promotions. You have to literally keep posting and promoting to keep your posts anywhere in front of people. And chances are very good you won’t be the only one doing it. That means you have to outwork your enemies.
And you’ll notice I called other bloggers in your keyword space enemies, because that’s what they are. It’s those no good so-and-sos who stand between YOU and revenue. I’d shoot a blow dart right through their heart, if I thought it would help. If I could legally chop their fingers off, I’d be sharpening my pickaxe right now. Because that’s how I’m hungry I am for the online millions.
And that’s the type of intensity I love to see. If you’re willing to shake a coconut out of a tree, then you can get the necessary revenue to earn money blogging. All it takes is tenacity, instincts, guts, and courage.
Are you ready to get out there and rip off some faces?

I’m not so sure I’d be comfortable meeting you in a dark alley, Darren. But thanks for saying what no one else says - blogging is a competition, and the other blogs in your area / niche are absolutely enemies. At least as far as search engine ranking is concerned.

Brutal but honest today aren’t we! I’m ready for a fight, but making friends helps plenty as well, a good link from a fellow blogger who’s got a better ranking than you can do wonders for your blog.

It’s kind of funny this. I mean everyone dislikes their competition, as they are stealing visitors that can be yours, and cash that can be yours. It’s nice how darren admits it, it’s only normal. I mean you think Coca-Cola and Pepsi like each other? lol.
Anyhow, the funny part is, google etc say it’s good to link to similar sites, so it’s tricky to be friendly with your competition…..no one want to give their competition an advantage

Well I think I’m doing pretty decent in my niche. A big clue is that my biggest “competition” links to my posts. I doubt I can make millions from a blog about beads, but there’s definately an online craft revolution I can tap into = ) Thanks for the humor Darren!
