You can’t sit around waiting for blogging success. You have to go out and get it. If you dally, others will do your work and take your spot. There’s no time for slacking in the blogosphere, and weak hands are being eliminated all the time. Are you a contender or a pretender? Your ad revenue is the only figure that accurately gage that fact.

Since I’ve been making a living online since 2004, I’ve learned that making money on the internet is a big steaming pile of crap that can break down at any moment. BUT, and it’s capitalized because it’s a very big but…if you can remain extremely flexible, and quickly change with the times, you wil prosper while many others will fail. Why? Enthusiasm is what fuels most blog startups. But enthusiasm wanes fast as the going gets tough. When the enthusiasm is gone, what can keep you pressing on? Why, money, of course. Being paid for what you love to do is more than a concept, it’s a way of life. Either you get it or you don’t.

I quit punching a time clock in 1993 permanently. The reason was: although I enjoyed making really good money at a young age, I hated having to sell a really crappy product to do it. To me the trade off was too great. To sell your soul for a few peanuts is never a deal I’d take, and almost every high-paying job you can find requires a lot of compromises to succeed. Making money online forces a few compromises, as well.

You can’t predict your cash flow as accurately as you can in other businesses, and you need to understand that internet marketing techniques are primarily tricks that have very short lifespans. It’s nearly impossible to keep your traffic moving in a steady direction, and a lot of it will depend on the keyword category your blog resides in. Some keywords will only earn you beer money, while others will buy you a Bentley. Of course there’s a lot more competition for the big money, so you better be good.

That’s all I was thinking about on this Sunday. I was thinking about this and trying new blog designs to see if I can coax some more revenue out of the blogs today. Why not? If I can make a simple code tweak that greatly improves my financial performance, I’ll be happy to do it.

I find that changing with the times is the only way to handle growing older.

    2. I was thinking yesterday about enthusiasm and motivation, and the blogging burnout.

To me the main factors in motivation and keeping rolling is of course visitors and the hit counter, but most importantly the cash!….I admit that and im not ashamed of it either, im a full time blogger and thats how I an afford to eat.

I find that on days when the money has been low for a while motivation is also low, but when you log on and find that yesterday was your record earnings, im full of enthusiasm and motivation, it’s m fuel.

A sign of things working and going right, and dreams than can be met, more and more progress.
