Is Darren the Problogger more powerful than Google?

I know what you’re thinking: “Yes, Darren the Problogger is very powerful, but he’s nowhere near as powerful as Google”. At first glance, you might be right, but I have evidence to suggest otherwise. Last week, my referer logs showed that Problogger sent me THREE TIMES the traffic that Google did. My research also showed me that his traffic was much better than Google’s.

The best part about the Problogger traffic: it’s all about blogging, so it’s totally related traffic. These are folks who joined my RSS feed, not just the usual tirekickers sent in from Google. Man, do I love live snapping traffic from the Problogger. (Notice the picture of him - do you see how he appears to be adjusting a dial, or maybe turning your traffic on).

The only trouble with traffic from Problogger is that you can’t always be assured of it (like you can with Google, huh?). I mean there’s no clear cut submission policy. It’s all just a matter of the “whims of the Problogger”. But when he reaches out from behind his monitor and chooses YOUR SITE to link to, it’s well worth the wait.

So that’s it. Google or Problogger? Who do you choose? Would you rather go with some uncaring monolithic and heartless conglomerate, or would you pick the underdog from Australia? I know who I’m picking.

  2. Aussie power for sure. Of course i have never been probloggered but even so i pick up some detectable traffic from just leaving a comment on his blog

This is one to show the wife - ‘I’m more powerful than Google V!’

I can just hear her response…..

‘then why can’t you pick your clothes up off the floor?’

  5. No problem, and thanks for stopping by :) If you pick your clothes off the floor, you’re wasting time. They’ll just end up there again soon enough.

  6. Since, there are two Darrens here, I have to address you as Pro-Blogger Darren and Republic Darren (lol). Republic Darren, you are right about the influence of Pro-Blogger Darren. He is surely bigger than Google. In the second day of existence, My blog, IndianRaj.com was fortunate enough to get a link from ProBlogger and it helped me a lot. You know getting traffic for a new blog is too difficult. Thanks to a link from ProBlogger, it became much easier for me.

  7. Exactly, Razib.

He’s always been quick to link out to new bloggers, and I’m sure that’s a big part of his success. When you link out to people, they get to know you quick.
