Have you been thumbd yet?

Okay, it doesn’t quite have the impact of being Dugg or being added to del.icio.us, but the web’s newest social bookmarking/news ratings service thumbd.net is up and running. The website offers a way to give a “thumbs up” to the best content on the web.
Yes, this was a whim to see if I could get people involved in a new collaborative project to help build an open source social networking website/script that could be free for all to use, and to make a website that could try to uphold some of the better ideas of “Web 2.0″ before they all fall off the face of the earth.
How can you help? Well, if you can design website, graphics, code in PHP or JavaScript, or if you know anything about open source development, social networking, blogging, news submissions, editorial or website promotions, we can use you.
If I don’t hear from anyone, I’ll just go ahead and do it myself, because that’s the kind of guy I am
I’m a mediocre PHP programmer, a terrible website designer, but I’m really good at being a sysadmin and doing website development and promotions. If you have a talent for any of these fields, remember, a coveted spot on the thumbd contributors page awaits. When the program is distributed freely to webmasters, the potential credit from being a contributor could be quite impressive.
Thanks for listening. And remember, getting the thumb is much better than getting than the finger

Great, I have become a member already and my co-blogger of SouthAsiaBiz .com has become a member too. You can count on me to get 5 members within the next 5 days. I love social bookmarking sites. The more the merrier.

Excellent Razib,
It’s primitive right now but I’m adding as much functionality as I can as fast as I can.

What a great idea! I am no expert in any of those required skills but i will be sure to be promoting it through my blogs where possible shortly!

Thanks much, Greg. The site has been getting pretty positive reviews so far, which is amazing because it doesn’t do much yet
