Blogs are already quite popular in Asia, but now they’re likely to become even more popular as Baidu launches a new blogging service.. They intend to call the service “Baidu Spaces”, and it is though to be similar to MySpace and MSN Spaces.
The Chinese market for blogs is enormous, but already well represented:
The number of bloggers in China is expected to hit 60 million by the end of this year and 100 million by 2007, according to a recent Xinhua article, citing a media industry report done by prestigious Tsinghua University.
Stunning numbers, really. Baidu plans on getting into this fast growing market, but it’s not clear exactly what they’ll offer. They did not announce either a plan for the offering, or a launch date.
This is another example of the enormous and growing market of blogging.
