There’s no way companies can afford to ignore blogs. They better do so at their own peril. Blogs are ruling the charts in Web 2.0, because they give voices to regular people and they put faces on large corporations. If you don’t add a blog to your company website, you’re helping your competitors who do. You’ll end up lagging behind in the final war for the hearts and minds of the public. Not convinced? Here’s some reasons blogs are a must have:
1) Blogs allow companies to open a dialogue with the people who buy products from them. This shows that 1) they care and 2) they’re listening. These are 2 very important things for many consumers in modern times.
2) Blogs keep people continously updated. Companies that maintain blogs aren’t as likely to lose touch with their customers.
3) Blogs do very well in search engines. Free traffic from search engines is always a powerful marketing tools. Blogs are beloved by search engines because they update often and are linked to from a ton of websites. Your blog will help your web presence rank well.
4) Blogs help you sell products or services online. You build trust when you blog, and trust is what sells products or services online.
5) Blogs help build your brand. Blogging gets you know consistently by people in the blogosphere. The subtle branding effect of your posts will be noticable as time passes. Some bloggers have become even bigger brands than the companies they blogged for, but they help promote the company in the process.
6) Blogs are cost effective. Anyone can afford a blog. The investment and time in a blog will yield high returns.
Ready to start today? You should. Blogs are easy to set up and cheap to maintain. If you have to convince your boss to add a blog to the main company website, show them this list. For pennies, blogs can help any company promote globally.
