90 days of blogging - What I’ve learned so far

Today is the 90th day anniversary of the Blog Republic. I look at back at this quarter year with great reflection and very little trepidation. I’ve laughed. I’ve cried. I’ve lived and died. Okay, not really, but you get the drift. I’ve been blogging hard and seeing what’s available to me in the blogosphere. Despite making my topic about making money online, I haven’t obsessed about the subject (no need to, my real online business pays the bills), but I’ve concerned myself with attempting to build a legitimate blog with a readership.

What are my impressions about blogging so far?

  • It’s hard work
  • Most people will fail at it because it’s hard work
  • Hard work alone is not enough
  • Blogging opens doors of communication to the greater world which are beyond the monetization levels you may expect in other fields
  • Web 2.0 is a sizzling hot buzzword
  • Bloggers wield more and more power over public opinion - which is the sure precursor to real power
  • Unless you’re Michael Arrington at TechCrunch, major success takes time
  • Blogging represents the latest and best hope of a generation to express themselves
  • A Utopia of sorts might exist for the few bloggers who can pull themselves from the much and distinguish their names - which is, after all, their greatest asset

At the 90 day point I can see signs of success, but not what I’d envisioned. This doesn’t mean I’m disappointed, it just means I have to work a bit harder. I can imagine that blogging in the next 3 months could represent the make it or break it time for succeeding.

Thanks to all of you for reading!

  2. Right on! 90 days and already receiving 10+ RSS subscribers a ton of backlinks, and good consistent content. Keep up the great work.

Blogging is hardwork, and tech crunch is a one in a million. Good luck:)
