Keep the readers interested
June 2, 2006 – 10:17 amby Darren
I looked over at my FeedBurner reader button today and I noticed I have a record number of readers, with the number now at 17! How happy that makes me when I realize my readership could fill up a small classroom, or maybe even rumble with a football team (let’s not get carried away). But with the joy of realizing that your relatively new blog is making some headway comes the apprehension that I must keep entertaining my readers, or I’ll be discarded like yesterday’s news.

If you don’t want to become the Dustin Diamond of blogging, you need to keep your readers interested.
Don’t let your growth “Schreech’ to a halt. Back in the day, Screech was the man. He let Zack’s coolness rub off on him, and he ruled the “Saved by the Bell” crowd for years. Now Dustin Diamond is a forgotten man. If his FeedBurner were active, it would show “0″ subscribers. Whatever we do, we need to make sure the people are still entertained and still paying for tickets. When our audience dries up, we’re out on the street like a second-rate TV actor. For this reason, I’m thinking of all kinds of ways to keep people interested.
Each day I’ll try to come up with something original, so my audience of readers hasn’t heard it all before. Each day I’ll give it my all, regardless of how I feel towards blogging that day. Each day I’ll remember that it’s internet users that pay my bills and keep me living in the manner in which I’m accustomed. And every day I’ll do my best to keep you, my dear reader, interested in returning to the Blog Republic the next day.
I hope I’m doing the job. Life’s not easy on Dustin Diamond these days, and I’d like to avoid his fate.
What do you do to keep things fresh on your blog?

We feature a new blogger/artist each month.
this keeps things fresh on a monthly basis.
on a daily basis, people log in to continue the discussion, or check out how the artist is doing…

Actually, Dustin Diamond often headlines at the comedy clubs around here. He is still around!

Ming,
Looks like a good idea. People love regular features.
Andrea, I’m sure he is…but do you pay to watch him?
