Information on blogs becomes outdated quickly

I guess this is actually true of all information. I was doing a bit of spring cleaning yesterday, and I decided to clean out some books, and take them to Half Price Books. You know the deal: a book about PHP 4.0 that cost $58 will now net you .41 cents on a trade in. It shows you just how quickly information becomes outdated, and how it loses its’ value just as quickly.

Blogs: The Books that Keep On Growing

This is as true of a blog as it is a book. In fact, it’s even more likely. So what can you do to make sure the information on your blog never becomes outdated? There’s nothing you can do to prevent individual posts from becoming outdated. But you can prevent your blog from ever becoming updated by making new updated posts. And therein is an advantage of a blog over a book. The book might represent comprehensive info, up to a certain date, but a blog can offer comprehensive info on a subject up to date!

Granted, the book is a superior media to some degree, but the blog has a greater number of advantages to readers than a book. In fact, the cycle of over-paying for books to become outdated, almost ensures that blogs have an innate advantage. Your ability to constantly add new posts means you can be an ever-expanding and fresh source of insight on your chosen topic. RSS feeds mean people who read your website can quickly glance through your new posts, and if there’s been an update concerning the subject matter, they’ll be abreast of it quickly. Try and make your blog into a book that readers never want to put down.

  2. The information on blogs may go out of date quite quickly, however blogs can always be updated, and isnt that what these board postings are for
