Every single list of “How Do I Make Money Blogging?” answers contains a bulleted item about commenting in related blogs. In fact, the advice is so common, it’s either true or just a widely accepted lie
Blog Republic is approaching it’s 90th day birthday party and now has some quality content (at least in my mind). The time has come to blitz the Blogosphere with a commenting campaign of epic proportions.
Okay, I’ll calm down now. If not, my SEO nature will come into play and I might seek automated solutions to manual problems. There’s no need. Commenting for love cannot be a numbers game, but has to be a strategic initiative waged to win the hearts and minds of an uncaring blogging public. “Nice site” might not do the trick.
Before the days of Rel = Nofollow, blog commenting was a way to build your search engine status. Now it’s been reduced to being a social networking phenomena, which if practiced right, is an even more powerful method of self promotions.
There are two basic ways to approach commenting in order to get people’s attention:
1) Agree with them. The stronger you agree, the more likely they are to want to talk to you
2) Disagree with them. The stronger you disagree, the more likely they may be to argue with you
Either one of these methods should work, but the results are highly dependent upon your personality type. Personally, I’d rather build consensus and get along with others, so my style is complimentary, bordering on flattery. Your style might be different, but it’s important to see the type of reaction you’re illiciting from others.
The campaign begins in earnest this week, so it will be very easy to track results.

I have to say, I agree with you wholeheartedly. In addition, commenting on the blogs that you visit is not only beneficial to the commentor, but to the blog owner as well. It drives the discussion and tends to bring visitors back.

I’m glad you agree. Agreeable people are the easiest ones to deal with

Actually, I didn’t mean to agree TWICE. When I made my first comment, I thought I forgot to hit the “Submit” button.

No problem. MySQL space is very cheap these days. You even varied your wording on each posts, so it’s valuable unique content!
