People all over the world are facing an unstable job market. Industries are changing rapidly, technology is expanding, and workers aren’t sure what the future holds for them. Becoming a knowledge worker might be a great way for people to re-train and find new careers. The online market is growing every day, and the demand for intelligent and self-motivated people is at an all time high. One of the ways a person can build an income online is through blogging.

The main thing to do is to leverage your expertise with a hot-selling product, in order to build a revenue stream. An example of a particularily winning way of blogging for an income would be a life long photographer who sets up a website about digital camera. The keyword areas that the photographer could touch upon is endless, and almost all of them are high paying. For instance, she could write about any of the following:

1) Buying a new camera - review by model number
2) Best ways to take pictures
3) Tips for purchasing supplies
4) Review of printers that print photos

The list can go on and on, and each one of these areas represents a subject matter that is profitable for advertisers.

A subject like digital cameras is also very popular, so there’s no shortage of traffic searching for the keywords and no shortage of advertisers willing to pay for ads. The main thing the blogger needs to do, is concern herself with covering a wide variety of sub-categories of the genre of digital photography and digital cameras. The more specific each ad is, the more likely she is to find that there is a bulk of advertisers who are paying a pretty penny for every click. If the traffic converts for the advertisers, the revenue stream is assured, as long as new content is added to the blog.

If you can define your blog in a narrow niche which has an abundance of advertisers, you can’t help but make good money. Don’t make the mistake that many new marketers do: being too vague or fuzzy in your logic will not help you get earn revenue through your blog. You need to make sure the market you think exists actually does, long before you embark on putting a ton of time and resources to finding out it doesn’t. Go to Overture.com to get a relative idea of what keywords are being searched for. If you’re entering an arena with very few searches, you may struggle to get paid. Look for a niche that is profitable, but also one where you can contribute with knowledge, and you can begin building an income stream today.
